Measurement Guide

To ensure that your garment will fit you perfectly follow these simple steps:

  1. Measure – Take the measurements listed below the type of garment you are interested in. There are two options you have when taking measurements:
  • Measure your body. If possible, have someone else measure you.
  • Measure a similar garment you already own that fits you well.
  1. Compare – Compare the measurements from Step 1 to the measurements of the garment you are interested in. Each garment has its own measurements so be sure to check your sizes against each garment to determine your size (listed on the garment’s page).

Tip: Record your measurements for reference when ordering in the future!

Shoulder Abayas & Dresses

Option #1 – Measure another abaya/dress you already own that fits you well. Lay your abaya/dress flat on the floor with the front facing down and measure the bust, hips, sleeve length, shoulder width, and length as shown in the picture above. Be sure to multiply the bust and hip measurements by 2 when comparing them to the measurements of the abaya you are interested in.

Option #2 – Measure your body. Take the following measurements (or have someone else take them for you):

  • Bust – Measure the fullest point around your chest, keeping the tape measure straight across your back.
  • Hips – Measure around the fullest part of your hips.
  • Length – Measure from the end of the back of your neck and straight down your back up until the length you would like your garment to reach. (or you can Determine Your Abaya Length Here)
  • Shoulder Width – Measure from the start of one shoulder to the other, taking the tape behind your neck.
  • Sleeve Length – Measure from the top of your shoulder joint and straight down your arm up until the length you would like your sleeves to reach.

Overhead Abayas

Option #1 – Measure another overhead abaya you already own that fits you well. Lay your overhead abaya on the floor with the front of the abaya facing down and measure the bust, length, and sleeve span as shown in the picture above. Be sure to multiply the bust measurement by 2 when comparing it to the bust measurement of the abaya you are interested in.

Option #2 – Measure your body. Take the following measurements (or have someone else take them for you):

  • Bust – Measure the fullest point around your chest, keeping the tape measure straight across your back. Overhead abayas will usually fit most bust sizes.
  • Length – Measure from the top-centre of your head (where you will be letting your overhead abaya rest), down the back of your head, and straight down the middle of your back to the floor. (or you can Determine your Overhead Abaya Length Here)
  • Sleeve Span – Put your hands by your sides. Drape a bedsheet over your head and take each end in either hand, keeping your hands comfortably down at your sides. Have someone measure from one wrist up your arm, over your head, and down the other arm to your other wrist.

How to use the size chart:
Shown in the size chart are the exact dimensions (hip and bust) for each size label in the first column? You would need a tape measure to get your own bust and hip measurement. Then using the chart above, choose a size with a bust size that is 6 inches bigger than your actual bust measurement OR a hip size that is 8 inches bigger than your actual hip measurement.

For example, your measurements are as follows:
Bust: 34 inches
Hip: 38 inches
Recommendation:
Bust: 34 + 6 = 40 inches.
Hip : 38 + 8 = 46 inches
Using the values 40 inches (bust) and 46 inches (hip) the above size chart, the corresponding size is S.
If the resulting value is in between two sizes (let’s say, between S and M) choose the bigger size.
